How do I skip someone on CamSkip?
Use Next on the call screen once it becomes available. The call ends and a new random match begins. Each new match uses one of your free matches, or coins after that.
01Meaning
What does skip mean in a video chat?
To skip is to end the call you are in and go straight to a new match. Nothing more mysterious than that. In a random video chat you did not choose the person on screen, so you get a way out that does not require an excuse: you move on, and the next person appears.
It is the feature the name CamSkip is built on. Cam, because you meet on camera. Skip, because not every match is a match. The idea has been around as long as webcam chat has, and the reason has not changed: sitting through a conversation that is going nowhere wastes two people's evening.
02The button
How do you skip to the next person on CamSkip?
Use Next on the call screen. The current call ends and the site begins looking for your next match, so you stay in the flow instead of going back to the start.
The Next button becomes available shortly after a call connects, not the instant it does. The short wait gives both of you a moment to say hello, and it means nobody is dismissed before their picture has finished loading.
- 1
You are on a call
One-on-one, matched at random.
- 2
Tap Next
Once it is available. This call closes.
- 3
New match
Someone else who is online appears, and you say hello again.
03What it uses
Does every skip use a match?
Yes. Moving on means starting a new match, and each new match uses one of your free matches, or coins once the free ones are gone. So skipping here is not bottomless, and we would rather tell you now than have you find out at the eleventh tap.
Staying has a side to it as well. A match opens with free time; stay on past it and the call carries on using coins, with a notice shown in the call beforehand. Where more free matches come from, and the coin side, are on Is CamSkip free?, kept there so there is one place to update.
Because a match is worth something, the smart move is to give each person a few seconds before you decide.
04Fair reasons
When is it fine to skip?
Whenever it is not your conversation. You do not owe a stranger your evening. Still, these five are the common, entirely fair reasons, and none of them needs an apology.
- Nobody is there. An empty chair or a ceiling. Move on.
- No picture or no sound. A black screen that does not fix itself after a few seconds.
- Rudeness. Insults, crude requests, anything that makes you uncomfortable. Skip, and report if it was serious.
- No shared language and no interest in typing. The translator helps with text, but both of you have to want to use it.
- It just isn't clicking. No spark is a reason. It is the most common one.
05Manners
How do you skip without being rude?
Say one short thing first, then tap. It costs two seconds and leaves the other person feeling like a human being instead of a channel you flipped past. Six ways to say it:
- "Nice to meet you. I'm going to keep looking around."
- "Have a good night!"
- "I think we're looking for different chats. Take care."
- "Gotta run. Good luck out there."
- "Thanks for the chat."
- A smile and a wave, if words are not working.
The exception is anyone being abusive. You do not need to say goodbye to that. Just go.
06The other side
Why do people skip you, and how do you get skipped less?
A skip in the first few seconds is usually about what the camera shows before you have said a word. A dark room, a forehead, a silent stare: each one reads as "nothing here" on the other person's screen.
Three fixes change it. Show your whole face, at eye level, not from below. Put a light in front of you, not behind. And speak first: "Hi, how's it going?" tells her there is a person here worth a minute. Light and framing are covered properly on cam to cam.
07Second thoughts
What if you skipped someone you liked?
Follow before you move on. If a call was good but you want to see who else is around, follow her first. Her profile is then where you can send a message or start a video call with her directly, without relying on the next random call to bring her back.
If you already tapped Next without following, look in Who's online. She may still be on the site. Random matching will not reliably put the same two people together twice, which is exactly why following exists.
08Spend wisely
How do you make each match count?
Look before you leap, and decide on purpose. Glance at Who's online before you start: it shows who is around, and you may prefer to pick someone and call her from her profile, which is the route described on girl video chat.
On a random match, use the moment before Next becomes available to actually look and listen; a match you leave at once is still a match used. Then make a real choice: move on because this is not your conversation, not out of habit. How the random side works, and what you control, is on random video call. And if a chat ever turns unpleasant, the safety tips cover when to leave and how to report.
