What makes a chat video live?
Three things: it is happening now, it goes both ways, and the two of you can react to each other. Take away any one of them and it is something else. A clip that plays when you arrive is a video. A feed you can watch but not join is a broadcast. A live video chat is a conversation: you say something, she hears it and answers.

In practice
What does real time feel like on a call?
Slightly imperfect. Sound and picture travel a long way, so there is often a short beat between your question and her answer. You will talk over each other once or twice and both stop. Somebody's picture will soften for a second when their connection dips, then sharpen again.
The habit that helps most is to leave a little more room after you speak than you would across a table, and to finish a sentence before you expect a reply. When the delay gets in the way, type: a line in the text box beside the video arrives whole, however the sound is behaving.
No rewind
What can you not do with live video?
Pause it, scrub back or watch it again later. A conversation happens once. If you looked away and missed what she said, the only way to get it back is to ask, which is no bad thing.
It also means your attention is part of the picture. Reading something in another tab shows, because she can see where your eyes go. People who do well on live video are not better looking or funnier; they are simply there for the minutes they are on.
- Close what you were doing before and give the call the whole screen.
- Look at the lens now and then, not only at her picture. To her, that is eye contact.
- Say it out loud when the picture freezes. "You froze for a second, say that again?" keeps things moving.

How do you see who is live right now?
Open Who's online. The list shows people who are on the site at this minute, which is why it is not the same list each time you look. Each card is a person with a profile behind it; tap one to open it.
You can view the list by country. That is useful for more than curiosity, because "now" is a different hour for each person on it. Mid-evening for you may be early morning for someone in Manila and lunchtime for someone in Lagos, and a person who has just woken up is in a different mood for talking than one who is winding down. From a profile you can follow her, send a message or start a video call, so finding someone on the list does not have to mean calling her that second.
Who's online is the chosen route. A random match skips the list and puts you on a call with someone who is online; the two are compared on girl chat.
Timing
When is a good time to look?
Whenever you have ten minutes you can give your full attention to. There is no schedule to learn. What changes with the hour is where in the world it is evening, so the country view will look different after your breakfast than after your dinner.

What happens to "live" when she leaves the site?
She is no longer on the list, and the list is the right place to check. A profile you opened ten minutes ago is not a promise that the person is still at her phone.
The same holds for you. Closing the tab ends your side at once. A conversation needs both people there, which is the whole difference between this and something you watch.
